The Daily Post Weekly Writing Challenge: Time for Poetry – Mantis and Spider

Another writing challenge I’ve decided to take on.

I found this here:    http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_writing_challenge/poetry/

Mantis & Spider 04/15/2014

Here tells the story,

Of a lord and lady,

How one taught the other,

about loss and conquer,

The roles they play,

Of master and protégé,

For many years this

was the game,

And the mold was finely

shaped,

Until one day,

When the locust became the mantis,

And no longer needed the

wise Spider,

On their own the pupil grew,

Now ready become the teacher,

but the old professor,

grew angry and lashed out

in fury,

At that what they loved so dearly,

As the novice moved

across the chessboard,

With moves so adept,

The mentor wept,

Newly morphed in their own power,

The apprentice no longer a disciple,

Master declares foe a rival.
